Basic Operations

This session presents an operational overview of the key functions Virtuoso /Soloist® offers to language instructors and focuses on lesson facilitation, communication, and classroom management.


Digital File Management 
Discover best practices for sharing media, root folders, and how to organize/save your media for use with Sony Virtuoso™/Soloist®
software.

Soloist® Training I
This session provides instruction, and "hands on" training utilizing Soloist® Digital PC Comparative Recorder and Media Player. Participants create, modify, and edit digital media.

Soloist® Training II
This session provides training, instruction, and material authoring utilizing Soloist®
Digital PC Comparative Recorder and Media Player, language instructors and lab support staff will:
               Use text player/editor
               Create digital recordings
               Create Automatic Comparative Recording files

 

Soloist® Training III
This session provides training, instruction, and material authoring utilizing Soloist®
Digital PC Comparative Recorder and Media Player, language instructors and lab support staff will:
                Use audio arranger lesson editor
                Create WWW Internet Link Lists
                Create synchronized text files for audio and video
 

Soloist® Training IV - Digital Assessments
Language instructors will gain an advanced knowledge base of Soloist® instructor authoring tools and author digital assessments, using digital media and a variety of response formats, for groups and individual students.

 VirtuosoAdvanced Features
This session extends the basic operational knowledge of Virtuoso instructor control and lesson facilitation for optimal language instruction. Language Instructors and lab support staff will use advanced instructor control features including but not limited to:
               Patterns
               Conference Groups
               Student Collaborative Projects
               Instructor Preference Default Settings
               Test Response Analyzer

Microsoft Word® and Power Point® in Your Language Lab
This session focuses on creating and using Microsoft Word and Power Point activities/lessons for group and individual student activities. Participants will create and author digital document activities for individuals, partners, and groups.

Finding, Using, and Incorporating Authentic Digital Content
This session centers on how to simplify the processes for locating, saving, and incorporating digital material Participants will receive step-by-step instruction and reference material on authentic content material selection using internet resources. 

 

Lesson Planning Drop In Lab - Optional Extension to All Sessions
Brainstorming Lab Lesson Planning, building off knowledge acquired in the previous workshop, instructors’ resource drop in lab time with contracted technology facilitator. Instructors will create several lab activities to support their lesson plans based on the knowledge acquired in the previous sessions.
